George Nees was another scientist who became a digital arts pioneer with Siemens in Germany. Definite inspiration from semiotics, symbology and language. Nees created most of his works using a plotter pen an act very similar to writign adn these ideas were no doubt influenced by his mentor Max Bense who was notable for trying to remove the philosophicla separation between the humanities and science. An important paradigm in Nees' work is a juxtaposition between 'order and disorder', wire-lke structures which breakdown.

Nake was a contemporary of George Nees, this piece considered an icon of this early stage of digital art known as 'Phase One'. Again it is possible to see some sort of narrative, a digital visual language, being written along lines like most text.
